Golden milk, or is it, Golden tea?…Which ever one you choose to call it, both have the golden ingredient it. I’m pretty sure you already know it’s Turmeric. (and if you didn’t know now you know) Anyhow lets dig in…

The main ingredient of this Golden Tea is Turmeric of course. My reason for wanting to try turmeric is for a more natural approach to seek the benefits of its claims. For me personally: arthritis, muscle aches, inflammation and sleep. When I first started reading about the benefits of Turmeric I was really interested to see if it worked. I needed up getting a Turmeric supplement in pill form. After taking them for a few months my stomach began to feel bloated and just not that great! so I stopped taking them. I didn’t feel any change to my body. The joint and muscle aches and inflammation were all still there going strong. Possibly because I didn’t take them long enough to be able to work?
Fast forward a few years…
Many years later I started hearing about Turmeric tea then Golden Milk. Both used with the Turmeric spice. So I decided to give it a try. There were so many recipes online i ended up choosing the most common one.
1cup Milk (of your liking
¼ tsp Turmeric
⅛ tsp cinnamon
1 pinch of black pepper
1 tsp raw honey
Mix all the ingredients (except the black pepper),in a small sauce pan and heat until hot. Pour into your favorite cup, get your pinch of black pepper and sip away!
(Quick note: As mentioned there are so many different varieties to make this Golden Milk. I just chose the most basic recipe.I like quick and easy recipes:)You can always add a tad more honey if you choose.
The taste was not bitter at all and with the added honey and cinnamon it gave it nice sweet taste. I found it very soothing after a long day.
How is it working?
I made the Golden milk every evening before I went to bed. It didn’t help me sleep any better, but it still tasted good at the end of the day. It gave me a sense of relaxation, even if just for a few moments. In to 4-5 days in I noticed something different . When I finished the drink my stomach would get bloated and i felt sick to my stomach. I shrugged it off to just being tired. When I woke the next morning all was fine.
Every night I would make a cup and each time my stomach would feel off! Bloated and sick. I knew it was the drink that was making me feel the way I did. As much as loved the taste I didn’t love how it made me feel. I had to stop drinking the famous Golden milk.☹ ️I’m not a medical professional so I can’t tell your why I felt that way. But it happened with turmeric supplements and it happened with the Golden milk. Maybe my body just doesn’t like the turmeric spice at all.
On to the next…
So what to try now? I personally haven’t come across anything that has caught my attention. So in the meantime I pretty much just suck it up and go about my days. One thing I can share is there is a herbal tea I drink every once in awhile. Celestial Seasons Sleepy time herbal tea. It helps me relax for those restless nights and really does help me fall asleep! So im happy about that! 😀

I’m curious if you have every felt anything like I did. My mom drinks it every night and she is just fine. She did mention it helps her relax and helps her get some sleep so that’s a plus.
