I like to think of myself as a creative person. One thing about me is I’ve always loved writing. Whether it’s meaningful heartfelt words, poetry, or one-liners for greeting cards, I want to take this journey a step further. I want to create something that people can connect with and hold onto for years to come.
About 15 years ago, I thought it would be cool to send my ideas to greeting card companies. After about a year in I received a response from Blue Mountain cards that stated they accepted my verse. A simple one sentence verse which they now own and used for one of there products. I never saw the verse on a card, but I did see a check for $150.00. Which at the time was pretty cool! After that I continued to send out my ideas, but nothing came of it. So that was it. I was done, pretty much gave up with the whole greeting card idea, but continued to write more for myself. I wrote my mom a few personal poetry pieces, but other than that, all came to a standstill.
Let the creativity start!
Right now, I am trying things out on a small scale level. My thought process is trial and error. I can’t afford to buy a t-shirt press. I also can’t buy a fancy printer for invitations. Things to transfer my designs to coffee mugs are out of reach too. And that’s o.k! I have found that there are plenty of digital printing services online that are free to use. At the moment im using Printify and Canva and so far so go! Printify is much easier and pretty basic compared to Canva, but Canva has so much more choices. I’m using the free versions for now to see how everything works. Playing around with different fonts and designs is always fun too depending on where my creativity takes me.
My thoughts and yours
My thought process for This and That creations is to learn more about what the people want. I also aim to find out how much they would be willing to spend on designs like mine. A lot of my stuff is going to be simple, nothing over the top extravagant. Sometimes simple is better. Words are placed with a design that is true to both of us. This makes a product unique in its own way. I am hoping to get feedback about my designs. I would also like suggestions about what you would like me to try to create.
