VIA CAVSNATION: According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, the Cleveland Cavlaiers have traded guard Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the 2018 unprotected first round pick that belonged to the Brooklyn Nets.
Thomas is entering the final year of a three-year deal and will become an unrestricted free agent next summer, the same summer that James enters free agency. Crowder has three years, $21.9 million left on his deal.
The biggest part of this trade is the Cavs acquiring the Nets pick from 2018, which will be completely unprotected. Brooklyn isn’t expected to be very good this year, which means the Cavs could get a top five pick this year.
