Ronald Gasser, the man who admitted to shooting and killing Joe McKnight last week in Jefferson Parish, was jailed Monday on a charge of manslaughter, according to records with the Sheriff’s Office.  Ronald  Gasser shot three rounds from a .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun from the driver’s seat of his car through the open passenger window, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said in a news conference Friday.

Normand said he is trying to be as transparent as possible but also needs to balance that against the “sanctity of (the) investigation.”

“Everybody wants to make this about race. This isn’t about race,” he said.
